Everyone loves KFC fried chicken, and although that recipe has been guarded like it was more valuable than all of the gold in Fort Knox. The second best tasting food that KFC serves is of course the yummy coleslaw side dish.
The ingredients used to make this fabulous slaw, are very easy to obtain and very easy to use. One does not need to be a master cook, or chef, to make this delicious dish. Simply gather your ingredients, chop the cabbage into fine pieces (about the size of 1/2 of Field Pea) and shred the carrot into fine shreds.
KFC coleslaw is great served as a side dish, as a hot dog topping, and as a topping for any sort of BBQ sandwich. The tart tang of lemon juice and buttermilk gives it an intense flavor that one does not find in typical coleslaw recipes.
Making this recipe is as simple as mix the ingredients, cover, cool for a short time & enjoy! This KFC coleslaw copycat recipe will have you making terrific tasting coleslaw in no time!
Although any mayonnaise will taste great, I do recommend blue plate as my mayonnaise of choice. For some reason, blue plate mayonnaise seems to add an extra kick that I find extremely pleasing to my palate.
Blue plate is smoother than most other mayonnaise’s, and it just makes a dish taste that much more delightful. I don’t know about you, but I can’t stand to have a mayonnaise taste or feel “grainy” as most other brands of mayonnaise do so I have to admit, that Blue Plate is about the only commercially manufactured mayonnaise I would ever recommend.
Terrific Party Tip!
If you are having a birthday party for children, or even adults, then of course it’s normal to have hot dogs at such an event!
And what topping is great for hot dogs? Why cole slaw of course!
A fabulous way to provide many toppings at the party, using one simple recipe, would be to have 3 or 4 types of cole slaw for the guests to choose from for their topping.
You can make the cole slaw sweeter by adding a bit of honey to it, it can be made hotter by adding some cayenne pepper or hot sauce and you can even provide more of a tangy crunch by adding a bit of relish.
If you were to set a table with several options, and also add a few condiment bowls with individual herbs and spices, then your guests can choose a slaw they prefer, and then add some added zing per their personal preference!
You can do this if you are serving other foods besides hot dogs as well, cole slaw tastes great on burgers, sausage dogs, BBQ sandwiches and even many cold cut sandwiches! Some people even like load cole slaw on top of their french fries or even baked potatoes.
This is a great idea to use for your next Birthday party and your guests will praise you for hosting such a fabulous party!
